Hello crafters!
Welcome to the Joy's Life 3D Animals and Card Folds Blog Hop! You should have just come over from the fabulous Maria's blog, the Joyful Stamper.
If you just stopped by and would like to join in on this fun hop, you can leap right on over to Joy's Life.com to start from the beginning. You will find some great projects and some yummy blog candy along the way. :)
I have always found the iris folding technique to be very interesting, not to mention beautiful. I can not believe some of the projects I have seen using this technique, some are quite extraordinary. You should check out Pinterest and see what I mean! :)
Anyway, fortunately for me, I found an SVG file at SVG Cuts.com that made this technique a little quicker. I really liked doing my first iris fold this way, because it was pretty much fool proof, yet I still got the feel for how it is done traditionally. There are some really awesome patterns out there, so I think I might make more of these type of cards. :) Well, enough blabbering... here is my card:
Here is what the folds look like up close:
Kind of cool, eh?
And of course, I found the perfect sentiment to go with my card:
You can find this stamp in the Joy's Life WildLife Puns stamp set. It has some super fun stamps, so check it out right here.
Now onto the blog candy:
Just leave me a comment telling what your favorite card fold or technique is.
I will pick a winner using Random.org and post it here next Friday, February 15th.
Thanks for hopping with us today. I hope you enjoyed my card. :)

Adorable bunny and a fun iris-folding card!
ReplyDeleteLove your iris fold card. I have never tried this one either. My favorite type of card to make is the easel card. I would really like to try some different folds too though and the iris fold looks very interesting!

Lori,
ReplyDeleteWow! The iris fold is so pretty. I've seen it but never attempted it. Even with an svg it looks complicated. LOL! You rocked it! Thanks for being in the 3D Animal & Card Folds blog hop!
Super Hugs,

Gorgeous card. The only kind of fold I can do besides basic is an easel fold. I will take your advice and check pinterest for the iris fold. You did such a great job. Thanks for sharing.

Love your card and the sentiment is just the perfect one to go with it. Thanks for sharing your talent!
ReplyDeleteI love your card. I've never done Iris folding, but it looks so adorable. I'll have to go check out the files at SVG cuts if it makes it easier. It looks really time consuming. I like lots of different folds, but lately my favorite has been pocket fold cards. Love the grey with the pinks! TFS. Live4scrappin
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card. Cute bunny--I thought it was KaDoodle Bug! Your paper piecing on the bunny is so crisp and very well done. Great chalking/inking as well.
ReplyDeleteI love to make iris fold cards myself!

Very cute card, love the Iris fold. The adorable bunny goes perfectly with Joy’s stamp. Awesome! I have two favorite card folds right now. One is the Twisted Easel Window Card, which has a window created with vellum with a stamped image and a battery-operated tea light illuminates the image from behind. And my all time favorite is the Butterfly Spinning Easel Card (there’s a very good tutorial on YouTube), which has a window cut out on the front of the card where the butterfly is suspended on fishing line and spins freely when the card is opened.
ReplyDeleteLovely card- I have never heard of the Iris fold. Right now I am trying to make the matchbook style cards.

Your iris fold is great, really looks good on this card! I like to try new folds, but my favorites are the tent card and the gatefold.
ReplyDeleteWow love the iris fold. I have tried this on a few cards and its makes for beautiful cards. Great card. My favorite fold would have to be the z fold and the Aperture cards. I like the simple look and they are so easy to make. TFS AJ-
